Baby Phat Silver Aluminum Mesh Crescent Hobo

The Find: This is what Baby Phat looked like when Kimora Lee Simmons was running it. Not printed, not coated, not a metallic finish. The body of this bag is genuine aluminum disc mesh, thousands of tiny silver plates hung on a woven backing, the same specialist construction that made mesh evening bags collectible in the first place. Baby Phat used it for a short window in the mid-2000s and then stopped. The crescent shape, the leather lacing at both sides, the rhinestone-set logo medallion swinging from the front, this is the maximalist end of the archive and it is the version collectors are actually hunting. Original-era Baby Phat is a different object from what carries the name now, and this bag is the proof.

• Slouchy crescent hobo silhouette that drapes and moves with the mesh
• Black leather trim, binding and shoulder strap with riveted tabs
• Large silver-tone O-rings at both strap attachments
• Studded leather band across the top front panel
• Leather lacing with long tassel tails at both side gussets
• Cast rhinestone logo medallion on a buckled leather tab at the front
• Debossed leather logo patch with the cat and script at the rear
• Top zip closure with a cast metal cat-silhouette pull on chain
• Black nylon jacquard lining printed tonally with baby phat script and cat logos

Measurements: Approximately 15" W x 9.5" H x 6" D. 

Condition: Very good. The mesh is fully intact with no missing discs or splits, and it holds its shine across every panel. The black leather trim shows light surface scuffing at the tassel tips and along the outer edges of the strap, consistent with careful wear. All hardware is present and functional, the zip runs smoothly. Everything is photographed.
