The Find:
Denim and gold, studded with brass nailheads that spell out the cat in profile. This is Baby Phat at the height of the Kimora Lee Simmons era, when the label was showing at Bryant Park and the cat logo was a status symbol from the Bronx to Beverly Center. The nailhead wedge is one of the harder Baby Phat footwear styles to find complete, and this pair still has its original leopard-print box with the style label intact. Original-era Baby Phat footwear is being pulled out of the market fast by collectors who know the difference between this and what came after.
