An early-2000s Louis Vuitton Stockton tote in Gris Monogram Mat, from Marc Jacobs' time at the house.
Jacobs spent his early years at Louis Vuitton reworking the Monogram in new materials. Monogram Mat was one of the shortest-lived: launched in 2002, it ran for only a few seasons before being discontinued around 2004. Instead of printed canvas, it used leather embossed with the Monogram and finished in a soft metallic sheen. The Gris colourway is a metallic steel grey that shifts with the light.
The Stockton is a structured tote with smooth, flat shoulder handles and brushed silver-tone hardware. The debossed monogram is subtle up close and only really shows when the light catches it.
It closes with a top zip. Heat-stamped "LOUIS VUITTON PARIS made in Spain".
