A 2006 Christian Dior Gaucho Double Saddle bag in brick red leather, from John Galliano's time at the house. It comes as a full set and has Entrupy authentication.
Galliano designed the Gaucho in 2006 as a follow-up to his Saddle bag, and gave it a cowboy feel. It had the same kidney-bean saddle shape, with a western belt buckle, a hanging key and a coin charm stamped with Christian Dior's own portrait. The leather was deliberately distressed and the silver hardware antiqued, so each one looked broken in from new. It became one of the defining bags of the mid-2000s. This one was sold new at Dior's Kalākaua Avenue boutique in Honolulu in May 2006, and the original card is included.
The body is brick red calfskin with a curved tan leather panel whipstitched around the flap. A wide leather strap crosses the flap and fastens through an oversized horseshoe buckle with a Dior-engraved keeper. The Dior key and portrait coin charm hang from it. The shoulder strap adjusts with a matching Dior buckle and is attached by antiqued silver-tone rings.
The saddle flap closes with a magnetic snap. There's a buckled pocket on the front, a magnetic slip pocket on the back, and a Dior oblique jacquard lining with a zip pocket inside.
