a charming vintage 1960s cotton folk dress in olive green, printed all over with stylized red and cream blossoms and finished with a bold bordered hem of scalloped flowers over a tiny geometric band. the bodice is fitted and darted, the long sleeves blouson into banded cuffs, and the full skirt is tightly gathered at the waist for a sweet, storybook silhouette, with a metal talon zipper up the center back. border prints like this one, where the pattern shifts to a decorative band at the hem, trace back to european provincial textiles, the calico and indienne prints of provence and alsace, and they were a favorite of 1960s and early 70s folk and prairie dressing. the unmarked construction and metal zipper point to a piece that was likely home sewn or made by a small maker, the kind of one-off that gives vintage its character.
