a signed 1970s zushi hand painted wood box bag, a hallmark format from this hard to find mid-century maker. the oval body is finished in a warm speckled glaze and hand painted with an array of gold, copper, and cream leaf motifs, several outlined in fine red brushwork. a woven metallic gold cord forms the shoulder strap, knotted through the hinge points on either side, and the interior opens clamshell style to a tan suede lined compartment on each side. the bag is signed "zushi" in cursive on the interior lid, the maker's consistent signature across the small handful of comparable pieces found on the resale market.
please note: there are three small chips to the glaze, visible in photos.
