a delicate 1940s boudoir bed jacket by under-pretties by berger, made in the usa. it has an open front with ivory silk ribbon ties, a wide yoke and elbow-length sleeves, and a sweet lace-trimmed patch pocket, all edged in ivory ring-tatted lace. the pale blue-grey fabric has a soft liquid sheen. bed jackets were a staple of mid-century boudoir dressing, worn over a nightgown for warmth and prettiness while sitting up in bed, and berger's "under-pretties" line specialized in exactly this kind of feminine lingerie layering. the tatted-ring lace and ribbon ties are hallmarks of the 1930s and 40s lingerie these jackets belong to.
please note: the decorative ribbon is missing from the top of the left sleeve, and there is very mild discoloration to some of the lace. the fabric is otherwise clean and in lovely shape.
