90s paris accessories black and cream paisley cotton bandana

a cream cotton bandana printed in dense black paisley by paris accessories. the design is built almost entirely from boteh at three different scales: a fine chain of tiny teardrops running the outer edge, a wide band of large scrolling paisley with starburst fills, a second ruled chain framing the field, and then an open center scattered with small solid teardrops in a regular diagonal grid. the corner carries an unusually complete set of marks: the paris accessories copyright and boxed logo, all cotton, colorfast, rn 13960, made in u.s.a., and of imported fabric. that final line is the most telling. it means the cloth itself was woven overseas and only printed and finished in the united states, a practice that took hold as american mills wound down their own bandana weaving, and collectors generally read the imported-fabric wording as marking the later end of paris production in the 1990s. one edge is a true selvage, the finished woven edge of the cloth, with the others hemmed.

please note: the ground is a warm cream rather than a bright white, and there are a few small scattered specks near the lower left and right side.

all bandanas are gently cleaned and pressed. beyond that we let them be, so any fading, softening, or small marks of use stay exactly as they came to us.
